Christmas Again

about

Kind of a sad Christmas song, written years ago by special request for a lovely lady in New Orleans named Kay. Sadly she passed a few years after I wrote this song but she was alive to hear me perform it and she loved it!

I was in kind of a dark place when I wrote this, my Mom had recently passed, a good friend's dog had passed (I was also friends with Guinness the Dog) and the person I was crushing on was not returning my calls. I was having all the lonely and sad holiday feels but as always, music made me feel better. Something magical about singing your problems away, I swear it really works!

Anyway, here it is, a brand new release just in time for anyone who gets depressed around the holidays. I hope this helps! If the holidays are bringing you down, just remember that when you pass the solstice, your life will have more light... nothing is permanent and there will be better days coming, maybe something wonderful is just around the next corner for you, keep looking up. xo

lyrics

Well, it's Christmas again,
I ain't got no friends and even my Guinness has gone flat.
I just lost my dog, he was dead as a log and
the only one smiling here is the cat.

I don't have any money but I've got a little time
And if you wanna spend it
I'll go out and steal us some wine to drink.

Pretty soon we'll start forgetting
that we're required to be happy this season
and leave us in peace to think
about sending out cards that I still haven't bought
and it's so far past the 17th.

This damn knife is too blunt to cut this vegetable skin
How did I offend you?
Won't you come back in?

Or else I'm going away to Texas
because everything is bigger there ;)
Yeah it's the lone star state.
And I need a single star to hang a top my tree
but this year it's just a seed

When I pass the solstice, my life will have more light,
so come on take me now
because soon I won't be your type.

Still you don't want me in your stocking
so these drinks I'm knocking back
maybe I'll get some sleep tonight.
Or more likely I'll be up until 5, writing songs, staying alive,
thinking I'll be someone else's Disco Queen.

Because my presence (presents) you're forgetting
Or my voice is much too grating.
Even Santa won't be eating
my toxically burnt baking.

While I'm putting away the wrapping
wishing I was strapping
you securely into my nights.
Yesterday I started painting
a whole new picture
of a life that's not so bleak.

Well I'll find a happy holiday
some other country or Mardi Gras maybe
as long as I escape
another lonely Christmas Day.
